Once again, OPT-NC is blazing a trail in stamp issue terms, offering New Caledonians innovative, cutting-edge products like this new issue - the country’s first ever newborn baby-themed scratch-off stamp.
Showing a Pacific wader landing in New Caledonia and carrying a newborn baby wrapped in a bundle in its beak, the stamp is designed as a playful, whimsical way of revealing the baby’s gender to the recipient of the card or letter. All they have to do is scratch off the opaque area with a question mark covering the bundle to find out whether it’s a girl or a boy!
Designed by Jean-Richard Lisiak, this 110 XPF stamp for mail sent to France and Europe was printed in France by Cartor, THE top specialists in creating very special and highly collectible postage stamps. Cartor have already brought their skills to creating OPT’s 2016 glow-in-the-dark stamp issue celebrating stargazing in New Caledonia.
The first French scratch-off stamps were issued in February 2015. Tokens revealing sweet words, wishes for happiness or good health, and even gifts or cash prizes, the stamps have since become firm favourites with both users and collectors.
We’re willing to bet that this first 20,000 print run New Caledonian scratch-off stamp will prove highly collectible!
